I, a citizen of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, entering the ranks of the Armed Forces, do take this oath and solemnly swear to be an honest, brave, disciplined, vigilant warrior, to strictly guard military and state secrets, and to unquestioningly carry out all military regulations and the orders of commanders and superiors. I swear to conscientiously study soldiery, to take care of the military's and the people's property in every possible way, and to my last breath be faithful to my people, my Soviet Motherland, and the Soviet government. I am always prepared upon orders of the Soviet government to act in defense of my Motherland – the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics—and, as a warrior in the Armed Forces, I swear to defend her courageously, skillfully, with dignity and honor, not sparing my blood and my life itself for the achievement of complete victory over enemies. If, however, I should violate this solemn oath of mine, then may I meet with the harsh retribution of Soviet law and the universal hatred and contempt of the toilers.
